Castner will graduate third in her group from Conroe Secondary School and will go to Harvard in the tumble to concentrate on regulation.

Young woman set to attend Harvard to study law who was born in prison — Sky Castner, an 18-year-old Montgomery County resident, was born in Galveston County Jail because her mother was incarcerated when she was born. Her father raised her as a single parent after picking her up from the county jail.

Notwithstanding her harsh starting points, Castner will graduate third in her group from Conroe Secondary School – north of Houston

Castner’s tutor Hamby consistently shares pictures of the adolescent on her virtual entertainment accounts – praising her numerous triumphs, including the day the high schooler took care of her vehicle

The youthful adolescent credits her guide Mona Hamby, who is irrelevant to the school, for her prosperity.

Castner and Hamby first became acquainted when the graduate attended Reaves Elementary School.

“A paper about her was given to me. Rosa Parks was her hero, Dairy Queen tacos were her favorite food, and she loved to read.

According to Hamby, who spoke with the Houston Chronicle, “I thought this sounds like a bright little girl.” That document is still mine today.

She stated to me: I’ve been to prison.” I said: ” No, that can’t be correct,” the coach proceeded. ‘ I knew I couldn’t just take this child to lunch once a week because she needed more. Castner seems a few times on Hamby’s Facebook page and the tutor frequently spouted about the youngster and how pleased she was.

In April, Castner posted on Hamby’s Instagram that she had not only been accepted to Harvard, but that she would also be receiving a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Ivy League institution.

Despite being born into poverty, the girl made it her goal to attend Harvard in elementary school.

Hamby shared a picture of her mentee and wrote, “Received full scholarship to attend Harvard in 2023.”

Hamby was there whenever Castner first got glasses and required a hair style, and even took her to visit Harvard’s grounds.

The little youngster was an unquenchable peruser and staff thought she’d profit from CISD’s Venture Guide program, where kids needing a bit of warmth get matched with a grown-up to assist care and tutor with them

Castner and Hamby first became acquainted when the graduate attended Reaves Elementary School.

“After that trip, I saw her love for the school intensify,” she told the Chronicle.

She was helped through experiences like summer camp by others in the community.

The 2023 graduate told the Chronicle, “It was a very different environment than I grew up in, and that’s not a bad thing.”

In the same way that everything I went through before Mona was very valuable, everything Mona taught me was very valuable.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Castner has only communicated with her birth mother once, when she was 14 years old.

Castner’s father, who raised her alone, was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, according to a post on the Conroe ISD Education Foundation’s Facebook page.

As a result, Hamby and other members of the local community’s support was even more crucial for the youngster throughout her childhood.

Castner put in a lot of effort to earn all A grades and enrolled in Conroe High School’s Academy for Health and Science Professions to get ready for the prestigious university.

Castner moved on from Conroe Secondary School on Thursday.
