Sha is an international student from Korea who is 22 years old and majors in cybersecurity.Purdue University Police chief Lesley Weite stated at a news conference that he informed the police about Chheda’s death by calling 911 around 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
Chheda was killed in his dorm in McCutcheon Hall, which is on the western edge of the West Lafayette university campus.According to initial autopsy reports, Chheda, a data science student from Indianapolis, died of “multiple sharp force traumatic injuries.” The death was ruled a homicide.
Arunabh Sinha, Chedda’s childhood friend, told PTI that on Tuesday, the 20-year-old was playing games and chatting with friends online when they heard screams on call.Sinha didn’t go out with his friends that night, but they told him they heard something odd and didn’t know why.

Mitch Daniels, president of the university, described Chheda’s death as “as tragic an event as we can imagine happening on our campus.””Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those affected by this terrible event,” he continued.
According to Weite, Sha was taken into custody and transported to the police station shortly after the 911 call.He has not yet been officially charged in the case.Weite believes that the attack was “senseless” and “unprovoked.”
