70 Times Life Imitates Art

Oscar Wilde once said, “Life imitates art more than art imitates life.” It’s easy to think that artwork is based on real-world events, but what if it’s actually the other way around? These examples may be the only proof you need.

Anti-Mimesis, as it is known in philosophical circles, is the theory that people learn about self-expression from art and fiction. Our actions and thoughts are directly inspired by the art we see, rather than the art reflecting our organic imagination. This could be an Inception-level revelation or a series of delightful coincidences. Look at either side of the coin and be sure to deny the shocking similarities between life and art.
